Our second stay is in Haut Doubs, at the very east of France between Besançon and Switzerland. We have to take care of a nice house with two dogs, Olya and Meyko, who both got surgery over last couple of weeks.
Those guys are bulldogs and they’re quite energetic, a lot of fun but you have to be careful, they can really drag you…
Corinne would go walking everyday and we’ll go with her sometimes, the nature around is very nice, lot of woods and hilly pastures where the Montbeliarde give the local cheese, the Comté. It’s a protected brand, and in the specification the cows must be grass-fed. It’s not perfect as there’s a bit of overproduction, but still much nicer than what we know in the North of France or in Loiret. The cheese manufactures are called Fruitières and you can buy direct from the producer.
There’s also a lot of organic produces around, just because the Swiss cross the border to get their groceries, it’s much cheaper here. But most of the places are closed, it’s August in France… we found a nice little farmer market, all local organic products, in the beautiful village of Lods.
Spent a great time and much enjoyed the area, now it’s time to go to Yonne!
